Artist Statement
This book combines scrap leather and fabrics, as well as new metal findings and drawing/writing papers. I designed an printed the wide rule writing paper on 70# stock and included drawing paper signatures of Strathmore 400 Series 80# so it would be a combination of Sketchbook and Journal. The frame on the spine can be customized with an insert, as well. The stitching on the edge of the cover is hand saddle stitched in red waxed linen, and the closure can be secured with any type of writing/painting device or decorative pick.
Materials & Technique
Mixed media binding of raw-edge leather, lined with cotton fabric, saddle stitched edging, with Wooden spine. Combination of Long & Chain Stitch binding with additional metal embellishment on spine and closure. Signatures are alternating combination of custom designed lined 70# writing pages and Strathmore 400 series 80# drawing paper in cream.
