Staying on Campus
For non-emergency dorm room assistance call 503-810-9591. Use this number for late arrivals, lock-outs, problems with your room, etc.
- Housing will be in the Ackerman Hall dorm rooms with shared and private bathrooms in the hallway. Each room includes a small refrigerator and microwave oven, in case you wish to store some soda or juice or make tea or instant coffee. However, no cooking and eating utensils are supplied; you should plan to bring your own if desired. These rooms are non-smoking facilities. Double Rooms: Approximately 162 square feet. Single Rooms: Approximately 115 square feet
- The dorm has elevators at both ends of the building, but is not air conditioned. If you wish to share your dorm room with someone specific (maximum 2 people per dorm room), please note that on the registration form; otherwise, all rooms will be assigned as single occupancy.
- The WOU campus is Non-Smoking, Alcohol and Drug-Free. This includes the dorm rooms.
- Laundry rooms located on floors 2-4. Use of the laundry facilities is free in Ackerman Hall, but you must provide your own detergent.
- Community kitchen located on the 4th floor
- There are no phones in the Ackerman dorm rooms. You will need to use your own cell phone if you feel a phone is necessary. There are public phones on campus; they require a credit card.
- Housekeeping on campus does not work like housekeeping at a hotel–they do not come into each room every day while we are on campus. This means things like garbage cans are not emptied every day. If necessary there is a dump bin outside the laundry room you can use to empty garbage cans from your room.
- Opened in the Fall of 2010, Ackerman is one of the most environmentally sustainable residence halls in the nation! Nestled into The Grove, Ackerman is the closet hall to the center of campus, and offers housing for conference attendees.
- 4 Floors, 3 Wings per floor
- Offers same gender community bathrooms and two single stall bathrooms located in each wing
- Common space, laptop bars and study nooks in each wing
Take a virtual tour of Ackerman Hall
Please note: In the virtual tours on the WOU website, most dorm room beds are shown raised higher so a dresser can fit beneath it, but during the conference the beds that will be occupied by attendees will be lowered to a normal height. All dorm rooms also include a microwave and small refrigerator/freezer and while they are not shown in the video tours, you can see them in the Matterport tours. Ackerman Hall has a small number of single rooms, so attendees may be assigned a double room, but with guaranteed single occupancy. If you know you want/need to share a room with a spouse, friend, or partner – you should each request that when you register.
Due to construction on Monmouth Ave, our use of Parking Lot H has been impacted. That construction will be along Monmouth Way from before Campbell Hall (on the map) to the entrance to the H lot. There will be no traffic permitted along Monmouth Way. Therefore, we need to shift parking locations for the duration of our conference.
We recommend that when people arrive for check-in, they park in Lot O (on the north side of the Welcome Center) and walk to the Richard Woodcock Education Center (RWEC) to get their parking permit. Once checked in, they will need to move their car to Lot J.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this unexpected change. Rest assured, we will have ample signage on campus to guide everyone to the new parking lot locations.
Not Staying on Campus
