Artist Statement

This was such a fun project for a Type A person like myself. I didn’t have a model or instructions but thoroughly enjoyed figuring out the precise measurements and how to make the box function properly. A true exercise in problem-solving on the fly!

Materials and Techniques

This stacking box opens by unfurling the case, exposing four interior boxes. The opening corner is held together with embedded magnets. The case is covered in Asahi bookcloth and lined with Canson Colorline paper. The individual boxes are covered with my hand-marbled paper and lined with velveteen paper. The lid was created with stacked bookboard and accented with beads from my local bead shop.
