Artist Statement

This project is very close to my heart. It’s a collaboration with my mother, who wrote the haiku. Some of her poems are inspired by my artwork, while some of the art was created in reaction to the haiku!

Materials and Techniques

This book is one of a varied edition of five. The poems are identical through the edition, but the artwork in each book is original. The pages are full of mixed-media cyanotypes that were worked wet to achieve the varied colors and textures you see throughout the book. These cyanotypes have not been rinsed, so many coats of UV spray have been applied to keep them stable. The poems have been letterpress-printed in gold ink on Rives BFK. The pages are Stonehenge. I used Dubletta bookcloth for the cover and case. Endpapers are Canson Mi-Teintes.
