FOBA 2021 Welcome Reception & Where We Live Juried Exhibit Panel Discussion With Exhibit Winners Registration
Artists from around the world have created books that fit the theme “Where We live” and submitted those works for this exhibit. The Where We Live exhibit will be available for viewing July 15th through the end of August, 2021. The 4 winners of the Where We Live exhibit will join our jurors for a panel discussion.
Please join us on Thursday, July 15th from 5:00pm – 6:00pm (PDT). This panel discussion will be held via Zoom. While the event is free, registration is required.
PANELISTS:

Laura Russell is a photographer and book artist who creates hand-bound, limited-edition artist books that incorporate photographs of our urban landscape and tell a story about our culture and our communities.

Erin Mickelson is a book artist operating under the imprint Broken Cloud Press. Her work is held in public and private collections and includes artist books, printmaking, and new & mixed media.

Featured Speaker – Tia Blassingame : Book Arts Futures Registration
We are so excited to have Tia Blassingame as our featured speaker. Her talk will be “Book Arts Futures, Musings on the future of the field.” This event will be held via Zoom on Friday, July 16th from 5:00pm – 6:00pm (PDT). While the event is free, registration is required.

Tia Blassingame is an Assistant Professor of Book Arts at Scripps College, the Director of Scripps College Press, and founder of the Book/Print Artist/Scholar of Color Collective.

Challenge Book Roundtable Registration
Artists have created books that fit the theme “Where We live: Where our hearts reside” and submitted those works to the Challenge Book exhibit. The Challenge Book exhibit will be available for viewing July 15 through the end of August, 2021. Please join us on Saturday, July 17th from 5:00pm – 6:00pm (PDT) for a review and discussion of many of the books that have been submitted for the Challenge Book project. It is a chance for the creators of these books to talk about their process, inspiration, and answer questions about them. This discussion will be held via Zoom. While the event is free, registration is required.
