Artist Statement
This wonderful and beautiful structure has its origins in China. I was first introduced to Zhen Xian Bao by Susan Joy Share and Paula Beardell Krieg during their intensive workshop in 2022.
Since then, I have been experimenting with its potential. This original version, “Restless Dragons, Enchanted Waves,” consists of small boxes, trays, flower tops, and pockets that open, collapse, and conceal treasure—folded forms that encourage variation and create intrigue.
Materials and Techniques
Inspired by Zhen Xian Bao, this hardcover book is constructed with book board, decorative papers, and ribbon.
