FOBA 2021 Challenge Book
Technique and materials used:
I printed the images and text on card stock and bound the book using the drum leaf style in a dos-a-dos binding. I painted and drew upon the Arches cover and cut the top into the tall grasses of the farm.
About the work:
Old slides taken by my grandfather and father are at the heart of this piece. I had been working on a text of memories from my childhood growing up on a potato farm in Troutdale, Oregon, and happily many of the images perfectly illustrated those memories. The first few pages of text had been written in 1990, which I rediscovered during the pandemic and finished this year.
