The book Interior relates to living in and moving from many locations. The spaces shown are from photographs I took of abandoned interiors from the past where I have visited or lived.

The one-of-a-kind sculptural book is in black and white to reinforce a sense of the past. I incorporate technology into the collages using scanned photographs of interiors that have been altered with Photoshop. Shapes and textures are juxtaposed with the scanned images.

Wood, paint, and painted paper are materials used in buildings so here I take an actual place and insert it into an abstracted interior.

The box serves as a container for the wood pages. A carved wood house is placed on top to give emphasis to a theme of home. In fact, having moved and lived in seven US states, I wanted to show a sense of nostalgia and abandonment. When someone asks me where I am from, I find it difficult to answer because of a sense of rootlessness.
