Artist Statement: Dreams are one of the ways that God chooses to reveal himself throughout the Old and New Testaments. The life of Joseph found in the book of Genesis describes a series of dreams that hold significant meaning for him, his family, and the survival of a multitude of people. Joseph is well-known for his father Jacob’s gift of a multi-colored coat that earns the scorn of his brothers and leads to his misfortune. Joseph’s plight seems hopeless as he is sold into slavery by his jealous bothers, only to be falsely accused of rape by Potiphar’s wife and then put into prison to be forgotten. But through it all, God had a spectacular plan for Joseph’s life. My artist book chronicles Joseph’s early dreams and those he interprets of the baker, cup bearer and ultimately Pharaoh. He goes from the pit of despair and betrayal to being second in command of Egypt. What others intended for evil against him, God used for good.
