Technique and materials used:
Hedi Kyle’s book, Art of the Fold, provided the structure. I painted Tyvek for the cover. Leftover envelopes from mail-in ballots made up the folded pocket accordion. Colored pencil lettering and postage stamps were used for illustration.
About the work:
When I heard about the controversy surrounding voting restrictions in other states, I thought about the simplicity of Oregon’s Vote by Mail. Safety, convenience, comfort have been part of my experience of voting for many years.
