FOBA 2021 Challenge Book

Technique and materials used:

This book is made from 2 cardboard “bolts” which are used in retail fabric displays. It is made of commercial and original images. Original images painted with acrylic paint are torn and glued haphazardly to outside and inside covers. Words inside are stitched free-motion on lightweight paper backed by a substrate and painted with acrylic. It is bound with large size waxed linen in coptic stitch.

About the work:

Inside the book, there are four descriptive words that can describe home. It can be a refuge, a safe place to ride out the storm. It can be a prison, when you are shut in. It can be your castle, where you get to make the decisions or it can be a monastery, where you go within and discover who you are and what you are made of.
