Laurel Rogers – Fleeting Transparent Images from the Night

Artist:

Laurel Rogers

Title:

Fleeting Transparent Images from the Night

Techniques & Materials:

The technique started with making wood block rubbings and then coating the paper with beeswax. This created a transparency with each image. Each image was placed in a cut out window from an accordion book. The front end-paper with stars and constellations creates the night mood.

Artist Statement: The beeswax coated wood block rubbings were created first. Then the transparent look gave me the idea that these were like fleeting dream images that come in the night. The lights behind photo number one shows the vision looking beyond.
