Artist Statement

The outside world was swirling and I could not settle to design a project. I began a daily stitching practice on linen scraps. They had no purpose. This was just about the process of pulling lovely thread through fabric, and calmly taking a breath. Swatches ended up in a basket. More recently, some of them found their way into the Book of Calm. Just holding the book feels like a sigh to me.

Materials and Techniques

The hard case accordion structure holds hand-stitched swatches of linen sewn to pages of watercolor paper.
