About the work:

I am fascinated by the way that we constantly adapt to change and are continually reconfigured by our experiences and influences from the world around us. I am intrigued with the process of creating, deconstructing, and redefining a new composition to communicate the depth of our complex, multi-faceted lives and ever evolving relationships. Patterns is an altered book that explores the idea of home, specifically the homes of my parents, grandparents and my family. The textile patterns were recreated from my visual memories. The stamped textile patterns and hand embroidery reference the history of embroidery, quilts and mending to repair and strengthen objects that have kept us warm and transform into vivid tactile memories.
