Every other year we hold a five-day conference of workshops taught by the very best in the fields of bookbinding, printing, decorating papers, paper making, books design and publishing. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit with an all-volunteer staff. There are many volunteer opportunities both before and during the conference; please contact us for more information.

The History of FOBA
The Oregon Book Arts Guild (OBAG) was founded in 1988 and met quarterly for two decades.
Under its auspices, the Biennial Book Exhibit started in 1989, with the first exhibit at the Oregon State Library. Exhibits continued through the mid-2000’s. It was resurrected in 2016 with an exhibit at Valley Arts Gallery in Forest Grove.
The first OBAG Focus Conference was held in 1993 at the Multnomah Arts Center. It continues to be held, every odd-numbered year; the past five conferences have been held at Pacific University in Forest Grove. When OBAG was dissolved in 2005, the conference name was changed to Focus on Book Arts and continued as its own entity.
Today the conference attracts over 200 people from around the world. It offers five days of workshops, along with a Trade Show, Artists’ Shop, Keynote Speaker, Faculty-Staff Exhibit, and several evening receptions. It’s an opportunity for networking and learning new skills in the various areas of book arts.
